SKANDIA
FLOORS was established by Michael Matotek
and Tero Suominen, both graduates of Temple University
business school. Michael got his start in the
flooring industry by working with contracting
companies and tradesmen in Beaver Falls, PA to
help pay his college tuition. Tero learned the
trade working with local craftsmen in Sweden and
Finland. After 5 years of running a successful
flooring business in Finland, Tero decided to
pursue a higher education in America. In 1992,
he brought his expertise and passion for flooring
to the United States. After meeting at Temple
and becoming close friends, Tero and Michael decided
to combine their practical and business experience
to form their own enterprise.
EMPLOYEES of Skandia Floors have been
given extensive installation, sanding, and refinishing
training by Michael and Tero. They are also involved
in training schools operated by the National
Wood Flooring Association, Wood
Flooring Manufacturers Association, BonaKemi
and Pergo.

world, the Swedish waterborne polyurethane BonaKemi
Traffic or BonaKemi Mega.
